Cricket's three formats and major tournaments
For people in Bangladesh, cricket is more than a sport — it is a passion. hibaji offers betting across three main formats.
T20 — This twenty-over format is the fastest and the most familiar for betting. Odds shift very quickly in every match of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League), IPL, and T20 World Cup, which means the pressure to decide is also higher.
ODI — Fifty-over matches call for a bit more patience when betting. Tigers matches in the ICC World Cup, Champions Trophy, and bilateral series always get special attention.
Test — In this five-day format, match outcomes remain far more uncertain. A draw is a valid result, so the market structure is different too. Test betting is slower, but session-based markets are quite appealing to experienced bettors.
Alongside cricket, hibaji also offers betting on football and a few other sports. Football involves a 90-minute match, extra time, and penalties — making the betting structure quite different from cricket. Cricket has no draw in T20 and ODI (ties are settled by Super Over or bowl-out), whereas a draw is one of the most common results in football — which is why the odds structure for each sport differs.

Popular betting markets — how each one works
Cricket betting at hibaji lets you place several different types of bets on a single match. The most common markets are explained briefly below.
Match Winner
A bet on which team will win the match. In T20 and ODI there are two outcomes (team A or team B); in Test a draw is also possible. Its simplicity makes it the first choice for newcomers.
Toss Winner
A bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. The result is entirely separate from the flow of the match, so odds are generally close to even for both teams.
Top Batsman
A bet on which batsman will score the most runs in an innings or the full match. The team's batting order and pitch conditions play an important role in this market.
Total Runs Over/Under
A bet on whether the combined runs of both teams will be above (over) or below (under) a set number. For example, if the line is 315.5, "over" wins with 316 or more runs.
Multi Bet
Combining bets on multiple matches on the same slip — you only win if every selection wins. Example: three selections at odds 1.50, 1.60, and 1.70 give combined odds of 4.08 (rounded); a ৳100 bet returns ৳408, but losing any one selection means the entire ৳100 is lost. For more detail, see the hibaji Bet betting guide.
Handicap and Over/Under
A virtual advantage or disadvantage is given to one team to level out the difference in strength between the two sides. Handicap betting is better suited to experienced bettors.
How to read odds — three formats
hibaji displays odds in decimal format by default, but the same price can also be expressed in fractional and American formats. The easiest way to understand all three is through an example.
| Team and Situation | Decimal | Fractional | American |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team A wins (underdog) | 2.25 | 5/4 | +125 |
| Team B wins (favourite) | 1.50 | 1/2 | -200 |
Example 1 — Team A (underdog), ৳200 bet
Decimal 2.25 = Fractional 5/4 = American +125.
If you win, you get back ৳450 (৳250 profit + original ৳200 stake).
If you lose, ৳200 is gone.
Example 2 — Team B (favourite), ৳200 bet
Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200.
A negative American odds figure shows how much you need to stake to win ৳100.
A ৳200 bet returns ৳300 if you win (৳100 profit).
The decimal format is the simplest — multiply the stake by that number to get the total return. When you see a minus (-) sign in American format, it means that side is the favourite — more stake is needed for less profit.

Live Betting — odds shift when a wicket falls
The ability to place bets after a match has started is called live or in-play betting. This is available at hibaji, and it is particularly useful in cricket — because odds are recalculated after every over, every wicket, and the end of each powerplay.
Say team A makes a good start in the first five overs without losing a wicket — the odds for team A winning will shorten (as they become the favourite) and the odds for team B winning will lengthen. Equally, if team A loses two quick wickets, the odds will swing in the other direction.
In-play betting in T20 is the most intense — there are only 120 balls, and a single six or wicket can change the course of the entire match. In ODI and Test, there is a bit more time to read the situation.
Keeping a clear head in live betting is important — setting a budget in advance rather than making a decision every moment will make the experience better.
- Odds change quickly right after a wicket falls — you need to decide in time.
- Check the run rate at the end of the powerplay to gauge how difficult the target will be.
- In in-play betting, it is best not to place a large bet based on a single ball.
A few things to keep in mind before you start betting
Cricket betting should be treated as entertainment — not as a guaranteed way to make money. Keeping a few things in mind before placing bets at hibaji will make the experience better.
- Set a budget beforehand. Decide how much you will bet on each match in advance and do not go beyond that limit.
- Start with one market. If you are new, the match winner market is the easiest. Once you are comfortable, you can move on to total runs or multi bets.
- Pitch report and weather. A spin-friendly pitch or a rain forecast has a direct effect on total runs.
- Team composition. Knowing the lineup after the toss gives you an edge in markets like top batsman or total wickets.
- Betting as entertainment. If you find yourself worrying too much about winnings or losses, take a break for a while.
- Read the responsible gaming page once to stay aware of your own playing habits.
